2022–23 Departmental Results Report—Operating context

Office of the Auditor General of Canada2022–23 Departmental Results Report

Operating context

As the legislative audit office of the federal government and of the 3 northern territories, the Office of the Auditor General of Canada’s operational context is most affected by developments in the auditing and accounting professions, as well as by changes to government operations and expenditures.

The coronavirus disease (COVID‑19) pandemic has had a significant impact on the operating environment of the Office of the Auditor General of Canada, as it has had on other organizations. Such factors as where and how employees work and the areas we select for performance audit work have been affected. In early 2023, we shifted to a hybrid work model, and we continued to work closely with the organizations we audit to anticipate and respond to evolving circumstances and to integrate innovative approaches to our audit work. We have also begun an internal transformation project whereby we are innovating our processes to better meet the needs of parliamentarians and Canadians.
