Canadian Broadcasting Corporation releases its audit report
Ottawa, 12 October 2022—The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation has made public the results of an audit conducted by the Office of the Auditor General of Canada. The audit covered the Corporation’s systems and practices that were in place between 1 December 2020 to 4 February 2022.
The Office of the Auditor General of Canada is required by the Financial Administration Act to conduct a type of performance audit—called a special examination—in most federal Crown corporations at least once every 10 years. These types of audits examine whether a Crown corporation’s systems and practices provide reasonable assurance that its assets are safeguarded, its resources are managed economically and efficiently, and its operations are carried out effectively. A special examination report is presented to the board of directors of the corporation and is an important source of information that parliamentarians can use to hold Crown corporations to account.
