The 2022 Reports of the Auditor General of Canada included in this release are:
Report 5—Chronic Homelessness. This audit focused on whether Employment and Social Development Canada and Infrastructure Canada prevented and reduced chronic homelessness through interventions that helped those at risk of or experiencing homelessness and chronic homelessness obtain housing and supports needed to remain housed. This audit also focused on whether the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation contributed to the prevention and reduction of chronic homelessness through its delivery of federal housing programs and services that address the housing needs and improve housing outcomes for vulnerable Canadians.
Report 6—Arctic Waters Surveillance. This audit focused on whether key federal organizations built the maritime domain awareness needed to respond to safety and security risks and incidents associated with increasing vessel traffic in Arctic waters. The federal organizations deemed key to the surveillance of Arctic waters and included in the scope were Transport Canada, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, the Canadian Coast Guard, National Defence, and Environment and Climate Change Canada. We also included Public Services and Procurement Canada for its supporting role in central purchasing and contracting for items such as vessels.
Report 7—Cybersecurity of Personal Information in the Cloud. This audit focused on whether the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat, Shared Services Canada, Public Services and Procurement Canada, Communications Security Establishment Canada, and selected federal departments had adequate and effective governance, guidance, and tools in place to prevent, detect, and respond to cybersecurity events that could compromise Canadians’ personal information in the cloud. For national security reasons, this report does not name the selected federal departments. We also looked at whether the federal government met its commitments to the environment and sustainable development in its procurement of cloud services.
Report 8—Emergency Management in First Nations Communities—Indigenous Services Canada. This audit focused on whether Indigenous Services Canada provided the emergency management support needed by First Nations communities. We examined the department’s activities related to floods, wildfires, landslides, and severe weather events, because these are the most prevalent types of emergencies affecting First Nations communities.
Special Examinations of Crown Corporations. We will also be providing copies of our reports on the special examinations of the following Crown corporations: Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges IncorporatedInc., the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, and the Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority.
Reports of the Auditor General of Canada are made available on the Office of the Auditor General of Canada website immediately following tabling.
