Special Examination of Crown Corporations. A special examination is a form of performance audit that is conducted within Crown corporations. It considers whether a Crown corporation’s systems and practices provide reasonable assurance that its assets are safeguarded, its resources are managed economically and efficiently, and its operations are carried out effectively. When the special examination is complete, the Office of the Auditor General of Canada submits its report directly to the corporation’s board of directors.
Copies of our reports on the special examinations of the following Crown corporations will be included in our 2017 Fall reports: the National Capital Commission and Atomic Energy of Canada Limited. These two special examination reports were issued to the corporations’ boards of directors in 2017.
