Video—Statistics Canada produces quality data but should better understand and address user needs

In our audit of Statistics Canada, we found that the Agency applied its framework to ensure the quality of its data products. As Canada’s national statistical agency, Statistics Canada generates key information on the country’s socio-economic conditions. This information is used by governments, researchers, academics, businesses and non-governmental organizations.

We found that Statistics Canada needs to better understand and address the needs of users outside the federal government, in particular the need for data on small geographic areas and subpopulations.
